At age 14, in 2012, Amber picked up the guitar and wrote her first original song, Stand Up, which she performed at various anti-bullying events. Reflecting on her school years, Amber shares:
"Stand Up got me through a really tough time during high school. I never felt like I belonged there and often felt like an outcast. The message of the song is to never give up on yourself or your dreams, and to stand up for yourself—your time to shine will come."
In 2013, Amber also began co-hosting the radio show Music Matters on 3WBC 94.1FM with Viarnne Mischon, founder of the School Broadcasting Network and Wonderful World Media Network. That same year, she received another Excellence Award from the Jaanz International Singing Academy, as well as the David Jaanz Award for Outstanding Performance.
